Beiseker

Pronounced BAY-SEK-KER (I think). Today we toured a small town way smaller than ours – population 785.

We were put in the grandest mood when the weather gods gave us a high of 15 and our Ontario friends a high of -5. We empathize, obviously. That is why we decided to go out and enjoy the weather on their behalf, with ice cream and sans-jacket.

We checked out the history of sod houses and their old train station, had apple pie at the local apple pie store, had strawberry and mango frozen yogurt, and walked around the neighbourhood.

It was interesting to see such a small town. Instead of a hospital, they had a medical center the size of a school portable, one school, and a couple of houses and stores.
