Today was a whopping 3 degrees Celsius! We decided that we needed to take advantage of the weather and go for a hike. After much research we decided to visit Horseshoe Canyon in Drumheller – 45 minutes from Strathmore.
First of all, Drumheller is a small town that gives off the ‘House of Wax’ vibe. In case you haven’t seen that movie, it’s about a creepy, small, ghost-like town where out of towners get killed and turned into wax people for their wax museum. Although it gives off that vibe, it somehow entices us to want to move there. We walked around the entire town and maybe saw five people. It was so eerily quiet and simple. I think we are attracted to the simple life.
Second of all, Drumheller is known for being an archeological site for finding dinosaur bones. So, the town literally is covered in dinosaurs. Upon entering the town you see the badlands and digging sites all around you. There were a ton of dinosaur museums.
Thirdly, all the dinosaur pictures are for a Miss. Sonia Trivedi. She loves dinosaurs and would probably want to live in this town, too. There was even a jurassic hotel!!!!!
We spent the rest of the afternoon hiking among the badlands and digging sites at Horseshoe Canyon. We climbed up one of the mountains (which was a scary climb) to have our lunch at the top. There was a surprising amount of cactus plants there. Patrick accidently sat on one and we had to spend some time getting the needles out of his butt. Yeah, the needles actually went through his pants and into his behind. While climbing down the mountain we got a bunch of needles in our hands and legs. It wasn’t pleasant, but the view was worth it.
