Homeless no more!

That’s right. You read that correctly. We found a home. Not only did we find a home, we found a home that we LOVE. It was quite the experience though.

Patrick and I visited 4 places in total yesterday. Here’s how it went:

Place #1: It was a two storey apartment. It was very airy and bright. There were windows that curved and spanned around one wall. It had two bedrooms and plenty of space. The landlord was super British and super nice!!! We even met the neighbor who was a sweet, old lady. We decided, yes, this place is awesome!

Place #2: It was a basement of an apartment, so there wasn’t an abundance of light. It was one bedroom and less expensive because of it. Because it was owned by a fascist (Patrick’s word) company, we felt like we were just another tenant shoved into a basement. The overall customer service was not inviting. Although it was cheaper, we decided, no.

Place #3: The apartment was striking in beauty and class. It was newly renovated with 2 bedrooms. It had plenty of space and amazing lighting. It was simply divine. However, every rose has a thorn. In this case, many thorns. These thorns grew in the form of the landlord. She lectured us about having parties, making noise, turning down the music when pulling into the parking lot, and getting “smashed” on our own time – off apartment property. Patrick and I both felt as if we were getting in trouble for something we hadn’t done. She pricked us in all the wrong ways. We left with our music blaring.

Place #4: This place was different from all the rest. It is a 2 bedroom walkout basement of a farmhouse on 10 acres. It is 10 minutes outside of Strathmore. We saw it online last minute and decided maybe we should go see it. It was 1pm and the landlord said she was available at 5pm. We contemplated all day if we should even go see it. We decided that we loved the first apartment so much that we would just call to cancel the appointment. Upon further thinking, we decided why the heck not. Let’s just go see it.

When we finally got there (We got lost for 15 minutes), we thought the farmhouse looked modern, but quaint. Upon entering through the front door, we were impressed by how massive it was. When they showed us the walkout basement, we were in awe. Our private entrance walks out onto a deck. There is just SO MUCH space. The bathroom alone is bigger than my room at home. It’s fully furnished with all the renovations. The landlords are a mother and daughter who are super sweet and from Ontario (Muskoka area)!!! They have 4 dogs, and horses in the summer. We got to meet 3 of the dogs and they are just as sweet!! We spent time there chatting away and then finally told them we would talk it over and let them know ASAP.

Patrick and I both weighed the pro’s and con’s of the awesome apartment and the farmhouse basement. The price difference was $50. In the end, the dogs won us over. Free pets without any of the responsibilities!!!!!!!!!
